The Green River to California Gap Year program is designed to provide a nine month (September to May) learning experience at two colleges on the west coast of the United States. Students spend the first quarter at Green River Community College (September - December) and then 1 semester (January - May) at Santa Barbara City College.

Santa Barbara’s surfing history dates back nearly a century and even the youngest locals are comfortable atop a long board. Celebrity-filled homes dot the hillside and the city’s large student population adds a jolt of youthful energy.
Santa Barbara’s beaches are its main attraction. Relax under an umbrella on East Beach, whose white sand and palm trees are framed by the surrounding hills. Stroll along Stearns Wharf for dozens of shops and one of California’s best views.
Santa Barbara City College is located a short walk away from the ocean. This modern campus has sea views, world-class facilities and a relaxed college campus atmosphere that lets you study and mingle with local and international students.
Nearby are some of California’s best beaches and seafront attractions. The social program hosts weekly activities like beach barbecues, boat parties, trips to Disneyland and Universal Studios and professional sporting events.
